What you should know BEFORE you try Kratom

Kratom is an increasingly popular herbal supplement that has been used for centuries in Southeast Asia. Recently, it’s become more available in the United States, and many people are turning to kratom for its potential health benefits. But what is kratom, and is it right for you?

Kratom (Mitragyna speciosa) is a tree native to Southeast Asia that belongs to the coffee family. Its leaves have been used for centuries as a traditional remedy by indigenous cultures — primarily in Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Papua New Guinea. Traditionally, kratom leaves were chewed or brewed into tea for their stimulant effects. Today, kratom is available in many forms including capsules, extracts, tinctures and powders.

So what are the potential health benefits of taking kratom? Proponents claim that it can help with anxiety and depression symptoms, improve cognitive performance, increase energy levels and reduce pain. There’s also some evidence that suggests it could be beneficial for opioid addiction recovery. However, more research needs to be done before any definitive conclusions can be made about the safety and efficacy of using kratom as a medicine.

But even if you’re not looking to use kratom as a medicine, you may still be wondering if it’s right for you. The answer will depend on your individual goals and circumstances — there are both risks and potential benefits associated with taking this supplement. Before deciding whether or not to try kratom, here are some important things to consider:

1. Talk to your doctor first –

As with any new supplement or medication, it’s always best to talk to your doctor first before trying something new like kratom. Your doctor can give you advice on whether or not it’s right for you based on your medical history and other medications/supplements you may already be taking.

2. Understand how it works –

Kratom contains two main active components – mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine – which interact with opioid receptors in the brain and may produce both stimulant-like and sedative effects depending on dosage amounts taken. This means that taking too much could have adverse side effects such as nausea or dizziness so understanding how these compounds work is important before trying it out for yourself.

3. Research different strains –

There are many different varieties of kratom available on the market today and each one has slightly different effects depending on its alkaloid content (the compounds responsible for producing its stimulant/sedative effects). Doing research into which strain might work best for you can help ensure that you get the desired effect without experiencing any unwanted side effects from too much of one alkaloid over another

4. Start slow –

When trying any new supplement or medication it’s always best practice to start slow at first until your body adjusts to the substance being introduced into your system; this goes double when dealing with something like kratom which can produce intense psychoactive effects depending on dose amount taken). Taking small amounts at first (2-3 grams) will help ensure that there aren’t any adverse reactions while giving you time to assess how well it works before increasing dose amounts further down the line if necessary

5. Know where your product comes from –

As with anything purchased online or offline these days always make sure that whatever source you buy from adheres to strict quality standards when sourcing their products (geaux kratom is a great place to start). This will help ensure that what you receive isn’t contaminated with potentially harmful chemicals or other substances which could cause serious health problems down the line.
